Poem
I remembered first seeing you when I was five
You asked me whether I wanted to join you in a game of tadpole-catching by the lake
Soon, we became dearest and closest friends
We built tree houses and climbed up chestnut trees
We shared stories and rolled down daisy hills
As years grew by, you swore that you'd never leave my side
But you did not keep your promise.
You had found your other half, and pierced my heart to the core with your pin
And on the day of your wedding,
I did not walk down the aisle as I had wished fifteen years ago;
Instead, I was sitting at the pew.
You wife entered in her wedding gown like an angel from the heavens
And as you asked her to marry you,
Deep inside, I quietly whispered "I do."
